As part of the “Pop vor Ort” event series, we would like to present the following on 15.12. together with the Hier ist nicht da to find out from different perspectives how the structures of music events are set up in the city of Gelsenkirchen.

In a panel discussion with the local actors Rüdiger Jagsteit (musician & organizer), Barbara Christ (Head of Girls’ Center Gelsenkirchen  & musician) and Ralf Kolecki (Kulturraum Werkstatt) – moderated by journalist Nadia Aboulwafi – everything revolves around topics such as booking, financing, curating, GEMA, KSK, organization. What goes well? Where are possible hurdles? The talk will also be open to you in the audience and your questions and contributions.

Afterwards, we are delighted to be able to present two great acts from the Ruhr region live on stage at HIND:

From energetic, rough lines to fragile, breathy tones: Kat Kit breaks with the apparent contradiction of gentleness and strength. With jazzy harmonies and unusual song structures, she draws cinematic landscapes of an introverted mind on the piano with her eyes closed.

Exploring like a curious child Karmakind explore the world of electro-organic live music and compose a fusion of vocals, flute, guitar and synthetic sounds. Sometimes meditative, sometimes playful, sometimes powerful and energetic – anything can happen. Genre boundaries blur in a transcultural mix of downtempo, organic house and indie dance. With lyrics in Arabic, Kurdish, German, English and Spanish, they create experimental, danceable and imaginative sets that take you on a dreamy, connecting and energetic journey.
