Application advice for pop culture actors

Do you want to carry out your own project, but you don’t have the time or money? Do you have ideas that are just waiting to be implemented – a concert, a tour or a production with the band? Or are you a promoter and want to create a new concert series in your city? There are many cultural offices and institutions that can support your project. We have already put these together for you in our handbook of pop music funding in North Rhine-Westphalia. At Showcase NRW there is also a “funding finder” which can help you find suitable funding.

But after the idea there is the next step – submitting the application. We are now able to offer individual advice to support you in submitting your application. Whether you need some initial advice on your first application, or whether you are planning a comprehensive application and want to professionalise yourself in the long term. In individual consultations, we will answer your questions and provide tips on how to present a successful application. From finding the right source of funding, to the finance plan and application texts, time management and conception – we want to support you so that you can realise your projects.

► The consultations are online via Zoom. We plan about an hour for each consultation.

Would you like to take part in a consultation?

Then contact Katharina with details of your preferred appointment at mail@popboard.nrw

► To help you structure your application content and goals, we have put together a document with questions here: Preparation for application consultation

The questionnaire also serves as a reminder for your preparation for the consultation.

Who will be advising you?

Julian Rybarski (he/they) makes music, runs a label, and directs the MädchenMusikAkademie NRW. After studying music/theater/cultural policy/philosophy, he held numerous positions on and offstage, in music production and mediation, from the Ruhrtriennale to off-beat festivals to continuing education programs for self-employment in the creative industry. Conceiving, applying for, and presenting projects has always been an essential part of his work from the very beginning.

PopBoard “Förder Talk”

As part of our “Förder Talk” interview format, we asked musicians and bands who have already received funding about their experiences with funding.

The Honey Club from Bochum talk about the funding of create music NRW, musician FINA gives insights into the artist funding of the Music Initiative and the band Keshavara from Cologne has tips for the “Ensemble Funding Music” funding program of the NRW Ministry of Culture and Science.
